Veterans Information

A military veteran is a person who has served (or is serving) in the armed forces. For years, the hard work, commitment, and sacrifices that Veterans have made has gone unappreciated. Many have returned only to find difficulties in getting work.

A number of organizations have been created to assist Veterans in getting back to civilian life. Many of these are independent, charitable organizations, and in some countries the aftercare and rehabilitation services provided by Governments have been inadequate. Whether that is due to lack of funding, or perhaps some organizations do not wish to give attention to the negative effects of military service and the difficulties of readjustment to civilian life is unknown.

 Regardless, help is there including sites like this to assist Veterans upon their return. People need to keep in mind that veterans should feel able to make contact and ask for assistance or advice without feeling that this is a weakness. Military service can truly be a profoundly unnatural experience and it is likely that some help may be needed in debriefing and rehabilitation into the community, whether in the form of medical, psychological, practical or financial assistance.
